Not for the rest of y'all, though. Don't worthy. No extra delays or anything like that, and I'm not trying to rile up the fans or anything…just need to vent.
2020 has taken so much from so many of us. Loved ones. Jobs. Friends. Security. Peace of mind…here we are, just about a month out from Cyberpunk 2077 being released, and I'm sad to say I won't be joining you all in Night City. It's only THE thing I, and most of everyone here, have been waiting years for. No biggie. /s
I preordered the Collector's Edition back when they first became available. Things were different then. Things were better then. Since then, I've lost 4 jobs, 3 this year alone. I've moved twice, covering nearly 1000 miles. I got divorced. I lost my dream car. I've recently learned that my father is literally half deaf, and my stepmother has throat cancer. I was really looking forward to sinking myself into Cyberpunk and ignoring reality for a little while, maybe getting my aging gamer father to take his mind off of his own shit for a while. He got me into things like Heavy Metal, HR Giger, Ridley Scott and Blade Runner at a very young age. It's a world that I know a part of him lives in because I grew up in it.
I've got a job prospect lined up. However, due to the nature of the work, I either wont be available to play the game because I'll be gone for weeks, if not months, at a time, or I wont be available to receive the package when it ships…or both. I've been trying to figure out if I already paid for it or not, but it dawned on me that it ultimately doesnt matter for the previous reasons: I either wont get it anyway, or wont get to play it. And I still dont know what to think about the divorce or the mounting medical issues for my family.
I just dont know what to think anymore. I have kept myself on Cyberpunk blackout for a while because I wanted to experience the game as fresh as possible. I've not watched any of the Night City Wire things. I'm sorry if I'm a bit behind on news or memes or hot topics. I dont mean to be a Debbie Downer. It just dawned on me that I wont get to be there with everyone. I wont get to enjoy something we have been waiting years for. Even if everything else works out fine, my best case is that I miss this massive event. To have that snatched away from me so close to release seems cruel on a cosmic level.
