Destiny 2 Armor You Should Get and Keep Before Beyond Light Launches

Content of the article: "Destiny 2 Armor You Should Get and Keep Before Beyond Light Launches"

TLDR: Before Beyond Light launches, if you want non-sunsetted armor and to be able to use all the seasonal armor mods including mods from Season 12, get armor from:

  • Last Wish or Scourge of the Past raids
  • Garden of Salvation raid
  • Season of Arrivals (Season 11)

In case you somehow missed it, Destiny will be sunsetting weapons and armor starting in Season 12 which is the first season of Beyond Light (Year 4).

What does this mean?

Weapons and armor that are 4 seasons or older cannot be infused to reach the max power for the current and future seasons. When Season 12 starts, armor from Seasons 1–8 will remain at max power 1060. For example, when Season 12 starts, Dreambane armor from Season of the Undying (Season 8) will still have a max power of 1060 instead of 1260 because that armor will be 4 seasons old.

Exceptions

Exceptions to this apply for exotics, raid armor from Scourge of the Past, and raid armor and weapons from Last Wish and Garden of Salvation. They will count as gear introduced in Season 11.

Armor to farm for

Even though a whole bunch of armor will be less useful for PVE when Beyond Light launches, there are still plenty of options available. So what are the types of armor you should be getting and keeping? In my opinion, they the ones that come from Last Wish or Scourge of the Past, Garden of Salvation, and Season of Arrivals.

Read:  Imagine if Iron Banner was actually a mode about controlling territory.

Why?

It’s because they all will count as Season 11 which means you will be able to use them until Season 15. Also, if you manage to get every elemental type for each armor, you will be able to use all the seasonal mods including seasonal mods from Season 15.

How seasonal mods work

As a short refresher, armor from one season can support mods that were introduced in the prior season, current season, and the following season. For example, armor from Season 8 can support that came from Season of Opulence, Season of Undying, and Season of Dawn (Seasons 7, 8, and 9).

Mods supported by each armor type

  • Armor from the Last Wish and Scourge of the Past will be able to use seasonal mods from Seasons 4 and 5. The mods are Armaments, Barrier, Invigoration, Repurposing for Taken and Fallen. You can get these from Last Wish and Scourge of the Past raids. These mods will be very valuable especially knowing that we will be facing Fallen in Season 12.

  • Armor of Garden of Salvation will be able to use seasonal mods from Seasons 7, 8, and 9. This armor set will support Armaments, Barrier, Invigoration, Repurposing mods for Hive, Garden of Salvation mods, and mods around Charged with Light.

  • Armor from Season of Arrivals will be able to use seasonal mods from Seasons 10, 11, and 12. Armor originally coming from Season 11 will support mods around Warmind cells and more mods around Charged with Light.

Unable to do raids?

If for some reason you can’t find a fireteam to do a raid for the week, you can still get some raid loot. Check out these video guides

Recap

So to summarize again, get armor from:

  • Last Wish or Scourge of the Past raids
  • Garden of Salvation raid
  • Season of Arrivals (Season 11)

If you don’t have all the mods, you might have a chance in getting them from Banshee, the Prismatic Recaster near the Drifter, Ada-1, and pinnacle activities such as Nightfall Ordeal.

Good luck on your armor farm Guardian!
