Torus, the Magic Guide

Torus is a hero who, like Rubick and Morphling, can copy other people's skills. However, relative to Rubick and Morphling it has a lot more customizability; you can even have more than one copy of

Bio:

Torus is a being without being and a being without form – born from the imaginations of men and monsters, it is a sentient expression of magic, a collective consciousness comprised of fragments of the fleeting thoughts of all magi that ever were.

Though able to rewrite whole sections of reality by itself, Torus has insofar been content to simply watch the world from afar, only appearing occasionally to whisper words of advice, flattery or predictions to subtly guide the world forward.

However, recent activity has changed this. As of late, fluctuations in magic have all but for certain signified a massive calamity to come: one that could cause not only all of reality to crumble but the notion of it as well.

Seeking to end the war by any means necessary, Torus has finally decided to interfere. Each step taken is one toward ending the war; each one is toward stability and preventing the fabric of reality from tearing apart. Yet, one can also see it twisting wherever Torus goes…

Magic is the intermediary between imagination and creation. To someone as ancient as Torus, any spell is merely a permutation of pre-existing knowledge.

From the previous Rewritten Spell:

Empty Slot

Notes – This Rewritten Spell allows players to store abilities with two parts, with the secondary part spilling into the Empty Slot.

Innate ability: Arcane Understanding (No Target – Affects Self, Self Target – Affects self) – Press to access Rewrite spells, which replace your Rewritten Spells. Rewrite spells allow you to copy enemy a hero's spell corresponding to a main spell slot position, specified in the Rewrite Spell's description. This spell can be cast upon yourself to shift all spell slots one slot to the right, looping.

Cooldown: 0.5 seconds ;

Embedded in the fabric of the reality is knowledge unknown to most. Those who understand all of it are able to recreate reality with ease.

– Notes: Self Target is a special type of Target Unit that is only triggered by targeting yourself. Self Target takes precedent over Target Unit.

From Arcane Understanding,

Rewrite (Target Unit – Affects Enemies, Target Unit – Affects Allies) – Corresponds to the first main ability slot. Target an enemy and copy their spell, rewriting the corresponding rewritten ability slot. If Aghanim's Scepter is unlocked, you can also copy the spells of allies.

Cast Range: 800 units;

Instant Cast Time;

Cooldown: 30 seconds;

Manacost: 100;

Most maguses pride themselves on their uniqueness and creativity. Unsurprisingly, using their own works against them is generally met with great annoyance.

Arcane Knowledge (No Target) – Revert back to Rewritten Spells.

Cooldown: 0.5 seconds ;

All spectrums of magic unravel before those who hold complete mastery over it.

– Note: Replaces Arcane Understanding after Arcane Understanding is activated, and visa versa. Rewritten Spells are retained after switching back and are not lost upon death. Rewritten spells can only be changed through a Rewrite ability.

Ultimate: Alter Reality (Toggle – Affects self) – Toggle to reduce other spell and item cooldowns by a set amount at set intervals.

Cooldown Reduction: 1/2/3 seconds;

Intervals: 0.25 seconds;

Manacost: 100 mana per interval;

Through unknown magical means, Toras can skip forth in time to shorten the rest period needed for reconjuring spells.

Aghanim's Scepter upgrades all Rewrite spells:

Rewrite can now target allies. Rewrite's cooldown is shortened to 10 seconds.

Alternatively, Aghanim's Scepter Grants a New Ability:

Walking Archive (No Target – Affects self) – Activate to gain access to a separate set of Rewritten Spells. These spells are identical to but are independent from their counterparts and have independent Arcane Understanding, Arcane Knowledge, and Rewrite spells. These new Rewritten and Rewrite spells do not share cooldown with their counterparts.

Cooldown: 0.5 seconds

Torus remembers almost every single spell it has encountered, from its creation to the present day. The only question is how to make room for all of them.

– Notes: This ability exists only if the last "Rewritten Spell" has only one spell slot available and not two.

From Walking Archive:

Walking Library (No Target – Affects self) – Revert back to the first set of spells.

Cooldown: 0.5 seconds

… Luckily, the imagination of wizards is limitless and ever-expanding.

– Notes: Replaces Walking Library after Walking Library is activated, and visa versa. This skill can be activated while Rewrite spells are up; it will revert to the first set of Rewrite spells. Alter Reality reduces the cooldown of both sets of abilities.

Aghanim's Shard upgrades Alter Reality:

When you do not have enough mana, you can instead cast abilities at twice the mana cost as health.

– Notes: Lets you convert from health to mana for all abilities.

Talents:

Level Left Right
25 25% of Mana Lost from of Alter Reality is given to allies in a 600 unit radius +50% Spell Amplification
20 +250 Cast Range +20 Mana Regeneration
15 12% Cooldown Reduction +50 Base Attack
10 +25 Movement Speed +200 Health

Special Mechanics:

Torus 's starting abilities are placeholders and not actual abilities. You get other heroes' abilities through "Rewrite" spells, which can be can be accessed through Arcane Understanding, an innate skill. When Arcane Understanding is pressed, all placeholders will be replaced with "copy" spells and Arcane Understanding is replaced with Arcane Knowledge (similar to how Morphling's Morph works). Press Arcane Knowledge to revert back to your placeholders. When a "copy" spell is used on an enemy, it will copy the spell corresponding to the "copy" spell's own position designation. Because of the six-spell limit hard cap, only the last Rewritten Spell can hold abilities that can take two ability slots. You can still copy other spells which have multiple components but it will only take the leftmost spell, and you can't gain new abilities off the mimicked spell. Abilities with more than two spell slots will only steal the main ability and not the attached innate abilities (rip Spirits In and Spirits Out)

Unlike Rubick and Morphling, whenever you copy someone's spell you don't also get that spell's level. Instead, you level up the placeholder, and whatever level that placeholder is is the level the copied spell has.

Arcane Understanding also has a secondary component: when self-casting (unit targeting but on yourself) you shift the spell positions of your spells one to the right, looping. This lets you steal multiple copies of the same spell, or spells which ordinarily belong to the same ability position, by using a "Rewrite" ability, shifting, and "Rewrite "- ing again (since your spell slot position moves but theirs does not). This means you can steal someone's ability that has two components if even that spell is not in the last spell position; however, you can't steal multiple or multiple perfect copies of spellswith two or more components. Placeholder ability (i.e. "Rewritten Spell") descriptions adjust when shifting, with the correct "Corresponds to the main ability slot".

When stealing from Invoker, First corresponds to the last invoked spell that isn't currently in his arsenal while Second and Third correspond with spells from the F and G slots, respectively. The copied spell uses ability draft's version.

Using an ability in a copied spell slot also puts the slot on cooldown, meaning that you can't just simply steal another ability and ignore the cooldown of the previous spell. "Rewrite" spell cooldowns are independent from "Rewritten" spell cooldowns.

The ultimate is independent from these abilities.
