TLDR What other events could be apocalyptic issues to deal with but aren't a straight forward slugfest with a megamonster?
I’m running a world where an ancient god of chaos and destruction created several calamities before the god was overthrown and banished by 5 demigods. The Calamities were destroyed or made dormant eons ago. A cult seeks to release these Calamities on the world again in order to bring about the return of the banished God. I don't want to just have it be a bunch of physical monsters, so i'm looking for ideas on other apocalyptic disasters. So far I have 4 but would like to shoot for 5-7 for a nice lengthy campaign of chaos.…..
A living storm, a category 6 hurricane that can travel across land without losing strength all the while spitting out various wind, lightning, water elementals to rampage in its wake. Players will have a stealth and infiltration mission through an ancient temple to stop the cult before they complete the awakening ritual. The core of the storm is a well guarded gem the players will have to find and smash if they are unable to stop the cultists from completing the ritual in the first place.
A Tree that siphons magic and creates an antimagic field around it, distilling the magical energy into Chaos Fruit. As it grows the AMF could spread for MILES cutting off access to healing spells, destroying magical architecture, shipping, and dozens of other things that would collapse a magic dependent society. Think of the devastation of massive continual EMP blasts in our world. The fruit is chaos incarnate and the seeds would spread and plant more trees causing devastation across the land if left unchecked
An awakened mountain. Yes this is a classic monster but it will run like Shadow of the Colossus so that should still be fun while being different than standard slash and stab.
Deathshadow. A necromantic cloud that casts a shadow across the land. The cloud grows in size every day. All corpses(Beast, Monster, and Humanoids) in the shadow instantly reanimate, all undead gain fast healing 5 (er… fast undying 5?), and all undead that are dropped below 0 hp revive after 1d6+5 rounds unless doused in holy water, blessed by a clergy, or burned in a properly large enough fire(just dropping a torch on them wont do it. full pyre needed). To defeat the cloud the PCs need to reassemble the holy artifact that was used to destroy the original Deathshadow. 3 fetch quests for parts and some skill challenges to build it…all while dealing with undead armies.

- Need tips for the battle plan I made for the finale session
- Need help with a cataclysmic event to use as the BBEG’s threat
- Need help balancing a homebrew gun for a warlock who wants to be John Constantine (and understanding normal patron/PC interactions)
