The Script:

Session Two: Norbus and Dazlyn

To Do List: Create Roll20 map of Axeholm Print out player versions of the map (3) Print out Adventuring gear list (2)

Session Opening Cinematic

“After saving Adabra Gwynn and bringing her back to town, she rewards you all with full health restoration as well as 1 greater healing potion and 1 regular potion. For your remaining time here in Phandalin, you can expect to receive a discount on healing potions when you buy them in town from Adabra (5%). It was late in the evening when you returned to the Stonehill Inn and each of you headed to your own rooms to sleep. This counts as a full rest so you regain all of your spells back and any rations you may have taken. Morning comes and sunlight streams through your windows as you open your eyes and start to smell the strongest smell of bacon wafting up from downstairs. The three of you commune at the breakfast bar and begin discussing what plans you may have for the day. Suddenly the door swings wide open and two Crowns Guard members are dragging a wailing woman inside by her armpits. They place her in a booth on the opposite side of the Inn from you. One Crowns Guard scribbles in a notebook and slides the piece of paper towards the woman before heading out of the Inn. What do you want to do?”

SCENE: Meeting Lyndia (Quest Hook) GM NOTE:

LOCATION: • Stonehill Inn • This is the only Inn in Phandalin. They are best known for pancake bacon strips with strawberry jam dipping. The Crowns Guard frequent this location and often look for trouble to start with those who seek to toe out of line. • Sight: The Stonehill Inn is completely empty except for a chef working behind the breakfast bar passing out food and drinks to the adventurers who just sat down. The Crowns Guard are dressed in their standard gold and purple armor with their weapons holstered. They place the sobbing woman in a booth at the opposite side of the room, one of them writes on a notebook and rips out the page to lightly toss it on the table in front of her. The Crowns Guard nod to the barkeep and head out of the Inn. Tables and chairs here are far and few between but large hunks of stone. • Sound: There is quiet music playing from the famous Bard, Thistle over the jukebox in the corner. Plates are being washed in the back and make swishing sounds as water pours over them. • Smell: Pancakes and bacon are the strongest smells here. • Touch: The Inn is made of everything stone. Since this was one of the first buildings remade after the destruction by Cryovain, there are large chunks of stone placed together with some died mud constancy. This place doesn’t look beautiful but it sure is sturdy. The floors are dirty and dusty from travelers and a lack of a good cleaner. Chairs and tables are far and few between but they are hardy. • Emotion: The Inn is peaceful and quiet despite the Crowns Guard presence. This place is used to blow off steam and enjoy a bite to eat for in town folks but travelers feel a sense of peace here that is cultivated from the nice townsfolks as well as the workers who all talk in soft spoken tongues.

QUEST HOOK SUMMARY: Business partners, Norbus and Dazlyn, went searching for gold in the South West Mountains of Phandalin. They were recently headed for a canyon with evidence of an ancient dwarven settlement from before the White Dragon, Cryovain, settled near these parts of the mountains and destroyed most everything in his path. Norbus was keeping his wife abreast with updates regarding their search but after the last attack from Cryovain, the sending stone has yet to work again as their mode of communication. Lyndia, Norbus’ wife, has been begging the Crowns Guard for two weeks to send someone after them but no response has been given until now. She was banging on Townmaster Harbin Wester’s door all night and Crowns Guard were sent to rid her of the premises and ticket her. She is offering anyone 150 gp if they can safely bring back her husband and his business partner. She has a partial map she can draw out for anyone willing to take up the quest and has provided half the money up front for supplies.

QUEST: Bring back Norbus’ and Dazlyn safely for 150gp. ADDITIONAL QUESTS: Clear out the settlement of ghosts and treasure. You keep ½ the gold found and any magical items found.

SCENE: Shopping for Supplies (Quest Hook)

LOCATION: • Lionshield Coster o Direction: Right across the main cul-de-sac in town. o Details: Owned by a merchant company, this store is known for selling weapons, armor, and additional adventuring gear (see table). They will not sell to anyone who they deem a threat to the town so keep in good terms with the owner. o Employees: Linene Graywind (35 year old human woman) who will tell you a tale if you speak with her: “With attacks from Cryovain increasing each month, it’s a shame our only fortress of protection is currently haunted by the sins of our past. I feel it in my bones, we will need the protection from Axeholm sooner rather than later.” POTENTIAL SKILL CHECKS • History Check o > 10: Axeholm was formally used as a prison and held many important political rivals that harmed Phandalin and other cities off the Sword Coast. o 10-15: Axeholm was formally used as a prison and held many important political rivals that harmed Phandalin and other cities off the Sword Coast. One such traitor was Vyldara (moon elf ambassador) who tried and failed to create civil unrest among the dwarves. She was killed and reincarnated as a banshee who now eats dwarves. o 15+: Axeholm was formally used as a prison and held many important political rivals that harmed Phandalin and other cities off the Sword Coast. One such traitor was Vyldara (moon elf ambassador) who tried and failed to create civil unrest among the dwarves. She was killed and reincarnated as a banshee who now eats dwarves who have turned into ghosts and continue to haunt the compound. There are plans to renovate Axeholm in the next few weeks as it is the only standing instillation that can survive Cryovain’s attacks for a sustained amount of time. Attacks have been increasing and this is the only hope to keep Phandalin and surrounding cities safe by stowing their citizens here.
