Content of the article: "Suggestion EFT should encourage exploration to combat min-maxing and hackers through completely RANDOMISED loot table but a buff to spawn quantity"
PRE-FACE: Being a fan of the stalker games, I really enjoyed the exploration of the unknown. EFT cant sustain the same feeling as the world doesnt evolve like in a singleplayer game. In EFT you quickly memorise the map and the loot spawns which kills the tension. EFT feels amazing for new players due to the fear of the unknown. The suggestion below should excite veteran EFT especially.
PROBLEM: The current issue with the game is the mad rush to the rare loot spawns for the experienced players while new players are left to slowly explore due to their lack of knowledge. Take the central buildings in shoreline and kiba/techlight in interchange as an example. Most of the chads/squads/experienced players aim for these areas specifically to min-max their payoff/time.
ANALYSIS: The experience should rather be a complete opposite of the current meta. The game should encourage exploration and feelings of trepidation around each corner. The best way to achieve this through 2 potential methods 1) randomised map layout (this is probably impossible given how well crafted the maps already are and effort required) or 2) complete randomisation of the loot.
UPSIDES: With the complete randomisation of the loot, this has the following benefits:
Players now have freedom to loot rather than being forced to rare spawn locations.
Players without map knowledge now have better chance of gaining high quality loot. Attention to surrounding will now be a factor, not memorization. Experience players should be able to know where loots spawn, just not the quality of the loot.
People cant min-max their loot strategy/ route meaning map memorisation will not prove an effective strategy, skill and alertness will
More randomised encounter vectors – It is now harder predict where people may be since tradition routes are no longer effective. This means more likely to experience a surprise encouter!
As above, this means people more start exploring location which are traditionally neglected meaning more trepidation in potential combat.
Campers have less payoff since they can't camp the route bottlenecks since players can now go anywhere.
Hackers now can't rely on rare spawn location for their RMT, meaning more effort is required. Also cautious hackers cannot rely on memorised route paths.
DOWNSIDES: Cons of the suggestion:
Locked rooms are no longer as valuable. However to counteract this, I propose that the loot/container quantity in such rooms be increased, such that there is more chances of getting a rare loot.
This suggestion may not work well for thematic containers such as medical/weapon, however devs could randomise within the container theme. ie randomised guns for gun containers, randomised medical items for medical bags.
Let me know if I can improve upon suggestion realistically (payoff/effort)
- Are hackers even a bigger problem than what Reddit says? This is based on my US West Interchange runs. Recently there was a post explaining how many people hack in Tarkov US West + Asia… I can’t tell if people are so RAT they don’t even contest good loot or if they are wall hacking loot + players.
