I don't see this idea being thrown around often enough. With story digest supposedly around the corner, new player experience is about to change in a pretty drastic way. Right after the tutorial, new players will be encouraged to play the Story Digest, that teaches them important things like elemental resistances and chaining while also offering MASSIVE rewards (10k lapis, tons of cactuars, awakening materials, etc).

Needless to say, Story Digest will be pretty key in early game, it also gives you around 20 rank levels per clear, throwing early game accounts straight to rank 100, another generally good choice since the starting max NRG makes new players trying to min max NRG spending play in a very unfun and unhealthy way sometimes.

The downside to this is, of course, that players miss on a lot of level up NRG fills, which at the start is important to be able to keep playing story while also trying to complete the easier weekly events. One easy fix for this would be increasing the amount of available NRG pots to new players, but I'd rather if Gumi just made all uncleared battles in world cost 0 NRG (exceptions could be made for espers and explorations, I guess).

We've had some experiments with half cost NRG, and as the NRG demand becomes higher and higher in the NV era, between the KM, Insignia/Doritoes Farming, and the usual Gil/Cactuar/Cryst, there is just too much to do weekly and new players are already overwhelmed enough.

I'd also strongly encourage Gumi to look at potential "new player gear" sets to be given either through missions, login, or a special 1 week long new player event. Teach players how to play the modern game, give them a New Player Mog King where they get currency for grinding a stage (like 20 clears over a week period, don't burn them out treating them like you treat us veterans) and can exchange these for good 3/4 star TMR gear to be able to start doing early trials.

Or give them a new player Raid with a chest full of gear, TMR mogs, max lv cactuars and tower gil turtles.

With this change, hopefully new players will be able to:

A: Treat story mode as a cozy "extra" mode they go to experience the rather decent story of FFBE when their NRG is down from doing events instead of doing this weird juggle between story for lapis or events for everything else.

B: Have a few weeks to get used to how the game works, while getting items and gear that allow them to transition nicely into trials.

I'm rather interested in whether newer players would like changes like these. I'd love to read your guys impressions (if there is any new player still around, of course)
