For the first time, my patience has ruined a series for me.

So this is going to be a bit of a strange post, but I hope I make some sense.

So a few years back, after the launch of Assassin's Creed: Unity, I decided to take a break from the AC series for some time. Similar to many people, I was just a bit sick of it at that point. I've always been a strong believer that if Ubisoft were to remove all of the overarching Apple of Eden stuff and the Assassin's Vs. Templars stuff, alot of the games would be far better for it. This idea, I believe, has stopped me from playing what could be brilliant games.

The past few entries in the AC series are talked of very highly by long time fans of the series, as-well as newcomers. Starting with Origins, moving into Odyssey and now with Valhalla, the series has definitely changed for the better. Whether it be added RPG mechanics or change in gameplay, the series is definitely thriving. But there's something still holding me back from going out and picking up Valhalla. That is, that I have absolutely zero interest in every game being connected through the Apple of Eden and modern day aspects.

I've found myself looking at Valhalla lately, and I genuinely believe that it could be a really cool action game set in a Norse setting. But I just don't want it to be an Assassin's Creed game. I would absolutely love if Ubisoft took all the AC stuff out of these games and just focused all their resource's on making these kind of games set in their respective historical setting.

Don't get me wrong, this is 100% just a personal preference. I know for a fact that the AC series is one of the most popular releases world wide and is loved by many. So I know there's a tonne of people out there really excited for Valhalla and honestly, more power to you! I just find myself wishing that it wasn't "Just another AC game".

Hope this post makes sense, would really love to see some discussion around the topic!
