The co-op action here is memorable, ambitious, and quite unlike anything we’ve played in a while.
It Takes Two is a charming co-op adventure that combines the best ideas from Nintendo and Pixar.
If you can ignore the story, It Takes Two has some of the best co-op gameplay in years.
A roaring success both in its diverse co-op-driven gameplay and mature story themes that unfold in playful and heartfelt ways
Hazelight Studios' It Takes Two is one of the best co-op gaming experiences there is and an absolute joy to play from start to finish.
It Takes Two is one of the most delightful and ceaselessly entertaining co-op games I’ve played.
There’s so much on offer in It Takes Two and it does it all so well. If you’re looking for a new game to play with your friend or partner then It Takes Two should be at the top of your list. It’s a delight.
It Takes Two is most probably the biggest surpise of this spring. While the world is still in a pandemic lockdown, and games are getting delayed left and right, Josef Fares gives us an insane adventure that is full of both drama and cool gameplay ideas.
I struggle to think of another co-op puzzle game that’s better. Maybe Portal 2? Even if that’ true, It Takes Two belongs on that same tier. Find yourself a friend (or an emotionally distanced spouse) and spend a little time with It Takes Two. It’ll be some of the most fun you’ll have this year.
It Takes Two is a Pixar-worthy adventure that consistently innovates, offering players an excellent co-op experience unlike any other.
It Takes Two is without a doubt one of the best platformers I've played in the last decade. The level design is incredible, and the amount of ideas in terms of its co-operative elements make every second of it so much fun to play.
It Takes Two is a brilliant coop platform game, in which every level is designed as a collaborative puzzle. It is fun, sometimes moving, and every level shows great ingenuity.
A firm commitment to cooperative multiplayer, a title that seeks to continue expanding a particular idea, a way of seeing the game in which its author has placed his trust. For that reason alone it deserves a certain degree of attention. But it also manages to make this proposal based on cooperation work wonderfully. Not only does it fill an empty space in our catalogs, but it also does it with a good grade.
Despite its flaws, It Takes Two is a special and highly polished game. It is full of surprises, new mechanics and a lot of heart. A must play for fans of co-op games.
An excellent co-op adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's the only place it falls short.
We need a break from this divorce game
Although the story of Cody and May doesn't meet the standards set by the game's varied gameplay, It Takes Two sees the continued form of Josef Fares and his team at Hazelight in crafting wonderfully creative and engaging worlds for players to share and collaborate in. It Takes Two is a co-op experience that's second to none, which offers more ways than you can imagine to experience these larger than life play spaces.
It Takes Two is an excellent co-op adventure. While it stumbles on certain narrative aspects and not all the performances are winners, it more than makes up for that with its brilliantly fun and ever-changing gameplay. Forcing two players to work in tandem in countless ways, the game embraces co-op play wholeheartedly, and the variety of gameplay and environments makes it a joy to play from start to finish.
It Takes Two is a masterful co-op experience.
With inventive and creative gameplay puzzles coupled with some unique environments, It Takes Two is without a doubt the greatest couch co-op game I’ve played in recent memory.
It Takes Two uses a smorgasbord of gameplay techniques to set us adrift in the field of couples therapy.
It Takes Two feels unique and more than worth exploring with a person you love
It Takes Two is absolutely stellar. Extremely varied, never boring, fun and exciting to play, incredibly pretty and with great character writing. If you enjoy cooperative play, you owe it to yourself to play it.
It Takes Two is a great rom-com romp filled with action, oodles of variety, and more than a few twists and turns. No, you won't like Cody and May for much of the game, and some segments do feel a touch drawn out, but grab the right co-op buddy and this is a hoot.
It Takes Two is a remarkable addition to the cooperative game genre that we don't see very often and we hope Hazelight continues their innovation in future projects.
Honestly, It Takes Two is one of the most pleasant surprises in video games I’ve ever had. I went in more or less expecting a fairly gimmick-laden brief but fun escapade, but it’s so much more than that.
It Takes Two is one of the most varied, inventive games ever made, serving up dozens upon dozens of different styles of gameplay in a remarkably polished, approachable package. An inconsistent level of challenge and lack of editing may strain your relationship with the game at times, but It Takes Two is good enough to justify working through the rough patches.
A fun, gorgeous platforming romp that makes great use of its split screen-only twist in both gameplay and narrative. Hazelight proves that co-op lightning can definitely strike twice.
While the game's creativity shines in its beat-by-beat gameplay and level design, It Takes Two's selling point – its narrative – feels half-baked.
- This week I played Beyond Good and Evil and The Last of Us.
- A Way Out and narrative game mechanics
- 2 to 4 Players Co-op – 2020 Experience
