Content of the article: "Should I Buy an Xbox Series S?"
Hey ya’ll I’m greatly considering buying a Series S soon, but I need help making a final decision.
I used to be a hardcore gamer; the best graphics and resolution, frame rate, etc. really mattered to me and I felt like my experience was incomplete if any of these aspects were not at the best. I had a gaming PC along with every latest-gen console, and I would frequently do research to see what the best system for each game was before I bought it.
But as time went on and life got more busy, I found myself having less and less time to play games. I haven’t upgraded my gaming PC since 2016 and I sold all of my consoles except for PS4 and Switch. In general, I feel like my interest in games has drifted tremendously and I want something to revive my love for it.
I definitely plan on getting a PS5 in the future, but between working minimum wage and saving for college classes, I need to save money when I can. But I do really want a next gen console soon, but there aren’t any games in particular on the PS5 that make me feel like I need it right away. Plus, I haven’t played any Xbox games for years, and I REALLY miss Halo in particular. I feel like having a large collection of games to play with Game Pass will really spark my excitement for games again; giving me the ability to try games I’ve never played before and replay games I haven’t played in years (I think the Master Chief collection alone will give me hours and hours of pure joy) plus I’ll have future releases like Halo Infinite and Cyberpunk 2077 for my next gen needs. I know the resolution is at 1080p and the memory is really low, but I will probably only play a couple games at a time and I don’t mind having to uninstall a game once I’m done with it. Plus, I plan to eventually buy a PS5 anyways so if I want a “true” next gen experience with higher resolutions, I know I will get those higher resolutions eventually, and I don’t feel a real need to experience it anytime soon.
So with all of that being said, my main concern is with graphical and general performance issues. Is the difference between the Series S and X really just in resolution and not having a disc drive? Because if so then the Series S sounds like my best option. But it sounds a little too good to be true so I’m just asking for confirmation from those who know. Are there graphical differences, or anything that is a significant enough downgrade that makes the S not worth it?
Thank you in advance for the help.
TL;DR Right now I mainly just want to have access to a large selection of games, Halo, and something to tie me down for next gen gaming until I buy a PS5. I don’t really care about high resolution or the disc drive, I just want to make sure there aren’t any dramatic downgrades that make it not worth a purchase.
