Content of the article: "Why is mobile gaming so huge?"
I just read that PUBG mobile made 3.5 billion since it's release. That was the tipping point for me.
I just can't grasp it.
The mobile gaming industry makes way more than console and PC combined. And it's more profitable since mobile games are easier to develop and cost less.
They provide no story, no dialogue, worse graphics, lower frame rate, lower resolution, less content, smaller worlds, worse audio but they have a target audience of absolute retards.
Objectively they are worse in every single way except for portability/accessibility.
So why do people play them and buy so many of their micro-transactions? Don't they realize that this system is inherently a rip-off? They hook you with a free game but put in obstacles, limitations and time-outs around every corner, just to force you to shell out money so that you can keep playing.
You don't progress, you don't accomplish anything, you simply pay for it. What's worse is that many of these games essentially play themselves. And then you have people who want shortcuts even for that?
You don't have to do anything, you just look at the screen and wait.
So… my question. People who play mobile games clearly have money and they clearly enjoy video games. So why don't they just buy a console or PC and get access to better games?
If it's all about portability and accessibility, then there's the Switch too. I just don't get it.
Is it because their lives suck? Because modern society has them running the rat race?
Commuting 2 hours to work and 2 hours back? Working 12 hour jobs? No time for real gaming on console or PC?
No sense of validation, accomplishment, progression and success in real life so they have to compensate? They substitute all of that with these mobile games since they allow you to skip the time investments that would be required by console & PC gaming.
"You don't need to have lots of time or skill to distract and feel good about yourself, so here you go, pay some money to release those hormones and neurotransmitters. We keep this illusion going."
I don't own a cell phone. All they do is facilitate the merging of work and home. Your life is your job. Your home is the workplace. You don't need to go back, your life is inside this smart phone and you can take it with you. There is no need for free time and a home anymore.
- Feeling down for quite some time now, any game suggestions that are good pick me ups?
