Double rant: Elemental sucks ass and FFS stop encouraging Capcom to powercreep harder.

So luckily Rise might actually change this seeing as players can now make monsters swallow their own medicine (water GS anyone?) and hopefully element skills will be easier to come by and fit on or share skills with raw, but I still feel like talking about it especially since this is because holy hell is it becoming annoying to fiddle around with all the mandatory elemental skills in IB.

So first is how only specific weapons can use elemental, this also results in most weapons being pretty fucked in certain cases like Alatreon where GL and impact CB users can kiss their victory goodbye. Its just so dumb that Iceborne nearly demands weapons to carry elemental in so many fights yet many weapons cannot really take advantage of it because element is just shit if you don’t hit the monster 2,000 times/second. Nami’s water armor, Raging Brachy’s slime spamma kablamma, scoring a head break on Ebony, Alatreon’s Escaton Bullshittery… Just real fucking pathetic to exclude 2/3ds of all of the weapons and instead of making elemental actually worth it.

Next, elemental is just garbage, it cannot benefit from raw skills that are easy to put on, “Crit boost? Critical eye? What’s that? Nah fam, here’s critical element that you NEED to actually take advantage of critical hits, oh, and btw, we made sure to have it exclusive to only Rathalos and Silverlos armor and not make it a decoration that you can meld”. Element also has its own crappy elemental decos, why are they crappy? Well first they take a total of 6 slots up to use, I mean, ok, that’s not bad I guess, at least it boosts up my damage to OP as balls levels right? WELL UNFORTUNATELY IT HAS A CAP. Ok, well maybe that’s fine, my weapon still deals over 400 ice damage, that’s like… 1000 raw with better hitzones! W E L L U N F O R T U N A T E L Y element has pretty mediocre hitzones on most monsters, it usually round half the damage a good raw attack would do, now that’s not exactly terrible but combine that with the inability to use critical without specific armor and you get a pretty shitty situation where you will be hurting to fit everything you need onto your set.

We all have encountered these idiots… You know, the people who main sticky LBG, stay back at camp and shoot outside crit distance and spam sleep and paralysis ammo and cry that the game is way too easy despite being as close to possible as playing cheap as you could possibly ever get and never EVER play solo. So, it’s ok when these idiots exist, it isn’t ok when they are loud enough to actually influence dev decisions, which I argue is EXACTLY what happened with Frontier and post HR World.

Now I WILL make the argument that everything post HR was made for multiplayer, I mean yes it is possible solo and despite my constant bitching, is actually pretty decent difficulty wise, but MAN is it annoying to fight a monster by yourself that is programmed to tackle 4 people.

I mean monster hyper aggression and health pools really isn’t a problem when the monster can only target one person at a time and will frequently back right into someone’s weapon along with being tenderized and wall banged every 2 seconds along with KOed and sleep bombed or paralyzed, like I can absolutely see myself LOVING Shara Ishvalda if I had someone else to take the heat or just keep chipping the skull open as I focus on surviving or just having other targets for Shara to harass with beam spam and allow mento recover, most monsters I feel would be really fun to fight as a group.

But you are by yourself? H O L Y S H I T, I do NOT enjoy everything being on crack cocaine and caffeine and using ludicrously quick attacks and beating on my recovering body while I am down.

So anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, these people… So it’s already pretty fucking annoying to have these condescending assholes bragging about how easy the game is or how they never even got hit on the Safi fight, whatever right? The issue is when they start demanding things to be harder… And Capcom listens… I am actually fucking GLEEFUL that Iceborne is being abandoned, BECAUSE THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WANT AN ARCH TEMPERED VERSION OF FATALIS!

Holy fuck has things after HR been nightmarish, I like a good challenge but there is a clear difference between challenge and bullshit, the thing is when you ask someone who is still struggling to make a good challenge to make one, they will give you A LOT of bullshit. Lunastra is quite literally a walking AOE machine that has no positioning or timing involved rather than face tanking or hoping your cat can function as a substitute sleep attacker (PS, they can’t). Later into Iceborne’s endgame, you have Raging Brachydios whose whole gimmick involves him being nonstop attacked to stop him from speeding up, HAVE FUN SOLOS! Or Safi Jiiva and Kulve who SPAAAAAM massive wide ranging attacks and NEVER hold still unless someone is keeping them distracted. Then you get it EVEN WORSE with Iceborne AT’s with Namielle’s uber nuke and health-be-gone water beams and Velkanha having the power of an eldritch god stored inside every one of its attacks, then Alatreon and (oh boy, you get 2 prizes now!) Kulve Tarroth with their DPS checks and nasty AOEs, and finally culminating in Fatalis who SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMS OHKO fireballs and worms around the arena so fast that you would thing a massive fucking is chasing it. I don’t know if it is fair to mention Extremoth or A.Leshen because I am 99% sure one of hell’s archdemons possessed MHWorld to create those monsters. But yeah, holy shit are these people really ruining the game by demanding things to be harder and harder.
