I've been playing Monster Hunter since 2009 on the Wii with Monster Hunter Tri, but haven't ever posted anything in this subreddit. I read all the rules, and am hoping that I'm not violating anything, so apologies if I am.
Anyways, I just wanted to say how strange this community has become. I feel that when World first came out, a lot of Veterans were really hard on newcomers. Poking fun at new players' abilities, and saying they'd be crushed if they tried to play an older game. This was weird for me, as the community that I'd known up until then had been one of the most laid-back, supportive fan bases out there. I can understand why a lot of resentment might have built for newer players towards MH veterans.
I think what's sad for me is how things have seemingly flipped. People now dismiss the older games, as well as the people who continue to play them. It very much reminds me of the "veterans" when World came out. I wish we could come to a point as a community, where we can accept that both "Old World", and "New World" have their own pros and cons. That we can love both of them, and not throw shade at members of our own community for defending one or the other.
Maybe I'm the only one who's noticed this trend, but I felt the need to get this out there. Monster Hunter was an incredibly supportive community for me when I got into the series. People just played for fun, and wanted nothing more than to help other members, and get newbies into the series. I hate seeing the toxicity from both Veterans, and players coming in from World.
Sorry for any spelling or grammar issues. I'm typing this all up on my phone. Anyways, Happy Hunting!
Again, I've posted this before, but feel that it's just so relevant now. You still see infighting both on this sub, and everywhere else. I love this community so much, and the members of it have always been so kind and supportive. You guys have really helped me through some tough times, and for that I thank you. I truly hope we as a community can somehow move past this, and learn to be okay with all of the series, not attacking others for their preferences.
- Capcom, thank you!
- Always liked TES, trying to get INTO it. So, I’m playing the entire series in order of release!
