With Gauntlet coming up, I'm sure people are eager for some inter-regional competition, and NeXT Winter is here to provide for the 3rd time this year.

There have been two NeXT tournaments prior to this this year, with Team CC winning the first one 4-3 over T1 during NeXT Spring, and Runaway winning the second one with a miracle losers bracket run, reverse sweeping Ignite One, and then stomping then-KR Contenders champions O2 Blast and defending NeXT and then-CN Contenders champions Team CC to take home the championship in NeXT Summer

This time around, 8 teams are invited, being:

WGS Phoenix, reigning champions of Contenders Korea. While the whole roster is incredible, some star players to watch out for are Faith, ACE, and Valentine.

RunAway, reigning NeXT Summer champions. Some star players to watch for are Assassin and Mer1t.

Team CC, Shanghai Dragons academy team, former NeXT champions and runner-ups of Contenders China Season 2. Some star players to watch for are Diya, Spectra, LiGe, and Gaga.

Team Chaser, Chengdu Hunters academy team made up using pieces of reigning Contenders China champions Flag Gaming and the 2020 Chengdu Hunters roster. Some star players to watch out for are Apr1ta, Lateyoung, Yveltal, and Mmonk.

Bilibili Gaming, Hangzhou Spark academy team, third place in Contenders China Season 2. Some star players to watch out for are Winter, DontSay, and ZiJin.

First Fabulous Fighter, 4th place in Contenders China Season 2. Some star players to watch out for are nightg0d, DPI, and Tyang.

The One Winner, coming off the back of a disappointing 5-6th place finish in Contenders China Season 2. Though they won't be present at Gauntlet, they'll want to redeem themselves after their perforamnce in the playoffs with this tournament. Some star players to watch out for are Pineapple, MoLanran, and Highbee.

Innocent Revolters, 7-8th place in Contenders China Season 2. They shouldn't be expected to do much of anything at this tournament, but may be a fun team to support if you believe in the 0.01%. Not really any star players on this team, but if I had to name some, it'd be Uaena and Lixin.

Most interestingly, for a few of these teams, despite certain players already being announced for OWL or leaked to be signing with OWL, teams have announced that some will continue to play for them in this tournament. Such players are as follows:

WGS Phoenix's im37 and Aztac (who have been signed to Boston and Toronto respectively). Team CC's LiGe (who has been signed to Hangzhou Spark). Team CC's GagA (leaked to be signing with Chengdu Hunters).

In addition, some players leaked to be signing or already signed with an OWL team are not participating in this tournament. Such players are as follows:

RunAway's Mag (signed to Washington Justice). Bilibili Gaming's Kayleee (signed to Guangzhou Charge). Team CC's 1987 (who has been leaked to Chengdu Hunters). Interestingly, Gaga who is also leaked to Chengdu will play this tournament.

Every team but First Fabulous Fighter and Innocent Revolters has a roster announced at this time.
