Yeah, we had the dreary cloudy days on the Amazing Spider-Man games with that suit, but this is different. Blue sky, bright and colorful world, with a realistic looking version of the suit. One of my many gripes with the film was there were literally NO daytime shots with Spider-Man, it was all dark and gritty nighttime stuff which just doesn't fit the character. We had a 20 second bit or so where at the end of a montage it is sunset, but I am talking blue sky and bright sunlight. The movie tried so hard to be dark and that is one reason why it didn't do so well. Then the second tried being light and fun but took it way too far and was closer to Batman and Robin (1997) than anything.
Now, I am wondering how much better the suit could look since they won't be color grading and desaturating it like what happened in the movie. Will it be more vibrant? I hope so. I was not a fan of this suit in 2011/2012. I hated it. The things that got me most were the basketball like texture and the weblines being more like a grid than webs, which made it look even more like a basketball. I like it a lot more in artwork where the webs look like webs (there was a comic book made based on the film universe) and the texture was absent.
I have warmed up to the design in recent years, but I think there are a lot of shots in the movie where it just looks awkward and way too rubbery. It never came off like a "kid made it" it looked more like a professional design but just not a great one. I think it looks better in the pic Insomniac showed, especially compared to the shot of the same pose in the movie.
I am also wondering how much they will slim the model down. Not all models in the game are the same size, so they could.
I honestly like it more than TASM2's suit, which at first I thought was an improvement but then as I saw more of it I think it looks sort of cheap and has some awkward sewing lines on it, the spider is too low, the web pattern on the chest looks weird, the belt is too thick with too many webs, the eyes looked like he was shocked all the time and they sort of just look tacked on like they could come off easily, the faceshell looks weird and like a monkey in some shots, and the back spider is too thin and should have been changed to its own logo. I know it's a popular suit, but I don't think it looked very good in the film. It looked a bit better in its game in 2014. I hope they put it in the game though, I know a lot of people want it. Maybe it will look better to me when Insomniac does it.
- My hope for the sequel more F.E.A.S.T.
- Gameplay Improvements I Hope to See
- Things I Want To See In The Future (Miles Morales And Beyond)
