Content of the article: "Pronouns v1.1.0 out now! Multigender support and API expansion"
Hey folks! Just put out another Pronouns update and thought I'd loop you in on what's happened since the initial release.
To get the obvious out of the way, the mod comments devolved into a flame war and were locked for the time being. I expected no less when I started making a mod that let you specify your player's preferred gender pronouns. What I didn't anticipate was the sheer outpouring of support everybody else provided, and for that I thank you. That's something I deeply appreciate.
Of course, with the comments locked down it took a while to realize the SE version wasn't 100% stable for everybody. If you had issues with other DLLs not loading or the game failing to launch, that should all be taken care of now. A big thank you to everybody who helped me troubleshoot the mod, jokes about my scuffed build environment notwithstanding.
As of just a few minutes ago, I've released version 1.1.0 of the mod. It came to my attention that it didn't support players and characters who use both He/Him and She/Her pronouns. There's a new option provided that lets you a hear a mix of both throughout your playthrough.
Along the way, I expanded the API to allow for something I call pronoun overrides. These allow mod authors to add features to their mods that temporarily change the pronouns that others use to refer to your character. A good example of this would be a disguise mod, where the author could make certain items (or perhaps a polymorph spell) cause NPCs to refer to you differently. The sky's the limit.
The next step for the mod is solving the potential deadlock problem that using They/Them pronouns can produce. I'm leaning towards an xEdit patcher that allows you to specify a default gendered response to take in those cases. This is a problem that I care greatly about solving, so I'll strive for the best solution.
That's all for now. Take care! Happy New Year!
