Putting together a mod list, need tips

Eight years ago, I bought a new computer for Skyrim, and modded it to hell and back. A few hundred gameplay hours later, Dawnguard came out, my mods all broke, and I set the game aside. I'm getting a new computer and I'm planning on playing a lot of Skyrim VR.

My playstyle is to make a single character and experience everything the game has to offer. For perspective, before Dawnguard came out, I had cleared every single location in the game.

I haven't added the VR-specific mods yet because I want to test them in person before adding them.

  1. Which of the mods in my modlist are the biggest resource hogs, and which are likely to cause stability issues?

  2. I'd like exactly four followers (Dovahbit doesn't count, he's a freebie) and I'm certain about Inigo, Lucien, and Auri. I'm less certain about Kaiden; I mostly picked him because he appears to have integration with the others. I've read a lot of posts on the topic, but does anyone have recommendations? Someone I can bring along for ~500 hours and not get sick of by the end of it, so lots of dialog is a must. Strong contenders for the slot include Sofia, Hoth, Mirai, and Benjamin Doon. (I strongly respect the author of Vilja for for contributions to the community, but I can't stand her voice.)

  3. I'd like to add a bunch of content mods – quests and areas. Falskaar was the hot new thing when I quit. I hear Legacy of the Dragonborn is pretty good. My main concern is breaking my followers; what content mods are safe for that?

  4. Could someone who is knowledgeable about these things take a good look at my combat mod list and make recommendations?

  5. I'd like more creatures, what should I get?
