Content of the article: "The Rigmor Series"
I have just played the Rigmor of Bruma Reboot on console and watched Zero Period's playthrough of Rigmor of Cyrodiil and absolutely loved both of them. I would have been content to just message the mod author on Nexus to praise his work but my problem is most of the reviews I've seen for the mod have been fiercely negative.
Typically, the issues these reviews have can be summarised as the mod being incompetent or lazy. Whether it has to do with bugs, environments, writing, or how the mod doesn't fit perfectly with their current RP as a necromancer who is a scourge upon Skyrim and who also happens to be at a certain point in each questline of the game and if the mod doesn't accommodate for that then it is a crime.
I can't for the life of me think why people who have this mentality can't appreciate that maybe if you're putting this mod in your load order then RP as a character who is suited for it. And if it doesn't make sense to play Rigmor of Bruma after the civil war is over then how about play it before you do the civil war?
If the mod forces you to be a caring and compassionate person, maybe just RP as one? It's hardly like the rest of vanilla Skyrim lets you RP perfectly as anyone you want.
I saw another review bash Rigmor of Cyrodiil for using architecture that came from other mods, and that when it didn't come from other mods it was uninspired. That same review then complained it didn't add any new gameplay mechanics for Christ's sake. I'm not saying that it's not valid criticism but I think it's taking it all a bit too seriously. I mean I didn't pay a cent and I got to experience what amounts as years of someone's hard work.
There is only a handful of mods that have the scope and ambition of Rigmor and it feels like a real disservice to the team that put it together to get hung up on stuff like this. I don't know, I just think the monumental effort that went into these mods deserves recognition instead of all the whining it gets. Maybe I'm wrong or misunderstood the criticism, so I'd love to hear other people's own thoughts.
