Content of the article: "After buying GOTY edition and realising my save wouldn’t carry over, I’ve finally caught up with where I was and I’m enjoying it more than ever."
I first started playing a couple of years ago and I loved the game so always kept an eye out for when the expansions were on sale. One day the goty edition was on sale for super cheap and I was excited to be able to play.
I’d just arrived at Skellige at the time and had done enough side missions and exploring to already be on 40 hours. So to realise that the game of the year edition uses completely different save files was so disappointing.
Thankfully I’ve finally got back to where I was in the story and I’m enjoying it more than ever. I know a lot of people wouldn’t mind having to replay the start of the game but I was so into it having to do it all again felt so frustrating.
I love how this game intertwines characters. Finding the body of Skjall and using dark magic to make him speak and then seeing Ciri’s interactions with him when he was alive was really sad. Then when you ask about the horse racing on Skellige you hear that Astrid is the champion after you just went to the sauna with her as Ciri. Also Geralt remembering Uma back at the barons castle is such an exciting call back to think that that could be Ciri (I haven’t got any further so no spoilers please).
I came back to the Witcher because I finished cyberpunk relatively quickly at 60 hours. I thought I’d wanna hang around in night city a bit longer than that but I was lacking the real depth of character webs. I don’t remember any exciting moments like those that just happened to me in the Witcher.
I’m excited to finally be able to carry on with the story and then have the expansions to play after too. Has anyone else come here from the back of cyberpunk trying to relive how good the Witcher is?
(Also realising the season pass is now on sale was rather annoying)
- Too broke for Cyberpunk 2077, bought Witcher 3 instead. I hope I won’t regret it.
- My defense of the Empress ending.
- I finally understand the hype

More about The WitcherPost: "After buying GOTY edition and realising my save wouldn’t carry over, I’ve finally caught up with where I was and I’m enjoying it more than ever." specifically for the game The Witcher. Other useful information about this game:
- (Spoiler) I just love the interactions between Geralt and others in Baptism of Fire.
- Discarding emotions is never easy(Vilgefortz/Lodge)
- Why Ciri should lead the next game
- Why a sequel with Ciri would make sense
- I love Witcher 1 and Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to death, but I figured I’d share some of my experiences with those games here for all to read.
