I finished the witcher 2 and at the end of blood and wine dlc of the witcher 3 i really enjoyed the game (perhaps one of my favorite games of all times) and feel rather sad that i am about to finish the masterpiece.
As the title suggests i decided to play the witcher games in order to watch the Netflix series but now i feel like the game gave me really high standards for the show and would be really disappointed if i watched it.
Also i really hate the forced diversity they had their cast i mean i like henry cavil coseplay of geralt but blond ciri? Really ? Also why did they choose a half indian actress as yennefer this bothered me even before playing the games but now after getting used to her game model she looks unbearable to me. From what i know the books decribe yennefer as a very pale woman. The netflix casters got out of their way to make sure that yennefer eyes are purple and find an actress who can wear purple eye contacts but then butchered a far more important aspect which is her skin colour what kind of priorities do they have. Danaerys also was supposed to have purple eyes but that didnt bother anybody because her actress emila Clark looks like danaerys in every other way i mean i am glad they chose her rather than a woman with darker skin actress who can wear purple eye contacts.
I also heard that there are black elves and many more side non white characters like wtf seriously. I am all for casting non white people in movies and series but this is a fanatasy that is based on medieval europe who fun fact was a not a very diverse place. It is almost as bad as casting black people in brave heart of kingdom of heaven. Fantasy that is based on medieval europe should look as much as possible as how medieval europe looked like. Rather than swap the colour of established characters why not create new characters that are black and who face racism and rise up against it, doesnt that give a better message to the non white audiences? Also i really wish they casted many slavic actors like how the show vikings casted many nordic actors If netflix really wants to cast large amount of nonwhite people of a fanatasy why not make show about african fantasy including many african mythologies. This way not just we will cast minorities but also help spread african culture to a wide audience. This why i always considered black panther to be the perfect way to cast black people in fantasy.
In the end tho despite all i said i am not that bigoted and can let all that slide if the netflix show was a masterpiece, so i dont know what do you guys think is the show worthwhile?
