Pred Bleed – All you ever wanted to know about Predator’s Mark bleed

Content of the article: "Pred Bleed – All you ever wanted to know about Predator’s Mark bleed"

I read a lot of post here about Pred Bleed but none have been able to clear all the shadows that persist around this build and the way the bleed's damage is calculated…

Why there is no correlation between the total amount of damage of the 10 shots and the total amount of damage of the bleed ? How bleed's damage is calculated ?

Is it true that the Pred Bleed that spreads with shrapnel talent to surrounding NPCs does lower bleed damage than the main target's one ?

Why Hunters bleed's damage always dissapointing compared to other NPC ? Are LMB medics immune to the bleed ?

What is the chance for each tick of bleed to be a critical tick of bled ? Is it established at the moment the bleed is applied, from the CHC/CHD of the weapon and active buff at the 10th shot ? Or is it calculated for each tick with the current CHC/CHD at the moment of the tick ? Is it possible to switch weapon after the bleed began and benefit from potentially higher CHC/CHD of the other weapon ?

What is the best way for building Predator's mark in order to maximize the bleed damage or/and the overall damage ? Which weapons are the best to use with Predator's Mark ? Urban MDR ? The House ?

I read that : "It’s consider slap in the face to predator build if you’re not using the build with smg and 9k stamina", here :

Is it true? So, ARs or SMGs, which ones deals more bleed damage with Pred build ?

What are best weapon's talents for that build ?

What happens if 2 Pred in the same team shoot at the same NPC ? Is it worth playing 2 Pred in a team or definitely not ?

Can Pred compete with Striker in PvE ? Which one deal more damage in PVE Legendary content ?

This post is the result of long hours of observation of slow motion records of the game. I share witou you above all the findings i made during those observations.

First of all, i advise you to read this post below, about MarcoStyle Additive vs Multiplicative Guide, and especially the reply of Raging_Mage, if you want to understand how damage are calculated and therefore how bleed damage are calculated :

Why there is no 215% correlation between the total amount of damage of the 10 shots and the total amount of damage of the bleed ?

In fact, there is no correlation at all between the total amount of damage of the 10 shots and the total amount of damage of the bleed ?

Read:  I could use some advice on my build - thx!

Predator 6 PC talent is describe as following : " The Damage over time to the target is increased by 15% for every 3,000 Stamina and can critically hit the target. When at 9,000 Stamina the damage over time bonus is increased by 120%."

In french it is written in the game : "Les dégâts progressifs", which literal translation is "the progressive damage", instead of "The Damage over time".

By "damage over time" or "progressive damage" the game creators meant : "each tic of bleed damage".

So, there is no 215% relation between the total amount of damage of the bleed and the total amount of damage of the 10 shots before the bleed start. But there is this 215% relation between a basis tic of bleed (that is one eighth of 215% of the total damage of the 10 shots without EAD) and the total amount of damage of the 10 shots!

DTE, EAD and CHD are then potentially applied to each tic of bleed appropriately, removing thus any proportionality relationship between the total amount of damage of the bleed and the total amount of damage of the 10 shots !

That is why there is 3 colors of bleed :

– white is without EAD and without CHD.

– Blue is when NPC still have its armor (EAD is applied)

– Orange is when the tic of bleed is critical (it can be critical with EAD if NPC still has its armor, or Critical without EAD if it has no armor or no more armor)

What's more each type of target don't bleed with the same number of tick :

– Targets in the shooting range bleed with 9 ticks of bleed

– Normal, Veteran, and Elite NPC bleed with 7 ticks of bleed

– Named NPC and Hunters bleed with only 6 ticks of bleed

That is why, for the reasons cited above, it is impossible to find any relation between the total amount of damage of the ticks of bleed and the total amount of damage of the 10 shots leading up the bleed.

So, how bleed's damage is calculated ?

When shooting 10 times at the same NPC, a basis tic of bleed is calculated as follows :

Basis tick of bleed = (All damage of the 10 shots without EAD * 215%) / 8

The key here is that the basis tic of bleed is 1/8 of the total damage of the 10 shots without EAD!

All damage category multiplier work for the total of the 10 shots except EAD!

=> (All Weapon Damage (AWD) + Weapon Type Damage (WTD)) * (CHD + HS) * DTE * OOC * others multiplier like 10% from responsive (EXCEPT EAD)

Read:  Don't be a build snob in Legendary (or anywhere else)

Note that if the target that is shooted is a hunter then the basis tick of bleed will be only half of the usual tick of bleed : in other words the Hunter's tick of bleed is only 1/8 of 107,5% (and not 215%) of the 10 shots (EAD never applies to Hunter as it has no amror).

Note also that some LMB Medics never bleed (the one(s) after the second stairs of Grand Central for example) while others Medics bleed in the same way as all other Elite NPC (with the same basis tick of bleed formula).

Then, when the bleed is applied to an NPC, each tick of bleed is calculated from this basis tick of bleed multiplied or not by 3 potential multiplier (DTE, EAD, CHD)

– DTE (if the NPC who is bleeding is Elite NPC, Named NPC or Hunter)

– EAD (if the NPC still has its armor, if he have armor but not enough, EAD will be applied only to a part of the basis tic of bleed ; note that Hunters don't have any Armor)

– CHD (if the tic of bleed is a critical tic of bleed)

It is important to note here that the DTE and EAD multiplier that are taken into account are the current ones at the moment of the tick, and not the ones at the 10th shot.

If you switch your weapon during the bleeding, it can affect the bleeding by incresing it if the new weapon selected has more DTE, EAD, or decreasing it if the new weapon selected has less DTE, EAD.

If you drink water during the bleeding, it will increase the damage of the next ticks of bleed.

Note also that CHC/CHD that are taken into account for all ticks of bleed are the ones at the moment the bleed is applied, from the CHC/CHD of the weapon and active buff at the 10th shot!

=> CHC/CHD and DTE are applied twice for the bleed damage. Thus Ferocious is the best talent to have for Pred weapons. Card Counter third exclusive The House talent (if it was possible to change it)>.

Is the Bleed that spreads with shrapnel talent to surrounding NPCs does lower bleed damage than the main target's one ?

No, the tick of bleed that spreads with shrapnel talent to surrounding NPCs can be either the same, higher or lower. But the base used to calculate all the bleeding (or basis tic of bleed) is exactly the same for the main target and the NPC arround which get the spreading bleed.

The ticks of bleed apply in the same way to the main target which have been shooted and others surrounding NPCs on which the bleed spreads :

Read:  How I Killed Aaron Keener

  • when the tic bleed is apllied to elite NPC, or Named NPC, or Hunter it is multiplied by DTE and :

– EAD if the Elite or Named NPN has still its armor (blue tic bleed)

– CHD if it is a critical bleed (orange tic of bleed)

  • when the tic bleed is apllied to Veteran NPC it is multiplied by only :

– EAD if the veteran NPC has still its armor (blue tic bleed)

– CHD if it is a critical bleed (orange tic of bleed)

  • when the tic bleed is apllied to normal NPC it is multiplied by only :

– CHD if it is a critical bleed (orange tic of bleed)

=> That is why, if you wanna apply huge bleeds, it is important to shoot at Elite and Named NPC preferentially (not Hunters, because the bleed is divided by 2 for them) and to have as much DTE as possible.

The bleed that will spread to Veteran and Normal NPC will be smaller because not multiplied by DTE twice but only once (for the calculation of the basis tic of bleed). But if you shoot first at Veteran and Normal NPC, DTE will not be taken into account for the calculation of the basis tick of bleed, but only if the bleed spread to an Elite, Named NPC or Hunter (*not sure if bleed can spread to Hunters).
