We are always working on making the game more interesting. Therefore, we are considering bringing Bastion mode back. But before that, we are going to test it in scenarios first, just like what we did to submarines.
The new operation series "Operation Downfall" is our testing ground. It is also the testing ground for 2 new types of ships: reparing ships, and land-based airport.
Repairing ships are slow, unarmed, and get spotted easily. For a better game experience, together with some international law concerns, reparing ship will not receive any damages from enemy. However, reparing ships cannot capture or defend areas. When reparing ships are the last ships remain on one side, that side is considered as all ships were destroyed. The current mechanisms for reparing ship is:
Repairing radius: 1.5 km
DD: 15 HP/Tier/s (e.g. T10 Gearing restores 150 HP/s)
CA/CL: 25 HP/Tier/s
Giant cruisers/BB/CV: 35 HP/Tier/s
Fire/Flooding damages are ceased within the repair circle, and the remaining time reduces by 5s/s
Main batteries, secondaries, and torpedo tubes restore HP in the same speed as ship. Incapacitated modules reduces incapacitated remaining time by 5s/s
When enemy ships appear in repair circle, repair will stop. When shells fall into repair circle, repair will cease for 5s. When the ship being repaired fires, it will not receive repair benefits for 5s.
Land-based airport carries more and better planes compared with same tier CV, and will accelerate plane restoration for friendly CV nearby. In this operation, you can launch powerful B-25 from land-based airport.
Operation Downfall was the proposed Allied plan for the invasion of the Japanese home islands near the end of World War II in Asia. The planned operation was cancelled when Japan surrendered following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Soviet declaration of war and the invasion of Manchuria. The operation had two parts: Operation Olympic and Operation Coronet. Set to begin in November 1945, Operation Olympic was intended to capture the southern third of the southernmost main Japanese island, Kyūshū, with the recently captured island of Okinawa to be used as a staging area. In early 1946 would come Operation Coronet, the planned invasion of the Kantō Plain, near Tokyo, on the main Japanese island of Honshu. Airbases on Kyūshū captured in Operation Olympic would allow land-based air support for Operation Coronet. If Downfall had taken place, it would have been the largest amphibious operation in history.
Operation 1: Operation Olympic
This is a T8 mini operation. The number of players is 3, with no more than 1 CV.
In this operation, you'll need to capture and defend target area. But before that, you'll have to deal with the enemy fleet on the west of the map (don't worry, you have repair ship.) Even if you fail on the west side, your CV can raid from the defendless north side, and take out the land-based airport under the fire of forts.
In this parallel universe, the 4th Yamato-Class battleship: Mino ( みの ) has been launched and entered battle. She will become a tough opponent in this operation.
Gain 1000 points by destroying enemies and capture areas, or destroy all enemy ships.
(P.S. Area A cannot be captured until enemy land-based airport is destroyed)
- Destroy enemy land-based airport
- Destroy 10 enemy ships
- Capture area B
- Destroy all enemy forts
- Destroy Yamato-class battleship Mino
